One of the best positions of any restaurant, right on the beautiful Strand Beach. Have your meal while looking over the bay and watch our wonderful sunsets. The food is consistently good and one our real favourites. Bens is known for its great food and large portions. A real must on any list.
Fishmonger - Address Rynveld Street - Tel: 021 887 7835
This is a good fish restaurant! Purely a seafood and sushi at its best.
Sit out on the pavement under old oak trees (even in winter, they supply heaters)and enjoy some of Stellenbosch’s fine wines with your seafood.
96 Winery Road - Winery Road - Tel: 021 8422020
This is a superb dining experience! Menu changes quite often and it has been rated one of the best restaurants in South Africa featuring within the top 10! It is owned by friends of ours Ken Forrester and Martin Meinert, both well known for their wines. The restaurant is run by Alan Forrester, Ken’s brother.
The food is inspired by South African favourites and flavours from around the world. Lots of fresh and organic ingredients and the steaks are amongst the best we have ever Eaten!
Giovanni’s - Waterstone Village - Somerset West - Tel: 021 850 0616
We love this Italian restaurant with a passion!! It is owned and managed by this dynamic pair, Andreas and Peter. They make you feel so welcome and always spoil our guests. The restaurant is within walking distance from us. The food is pure ITALIAN ( even though Andreas is Greek!) and is really superb.
Booking is essential as they have had a full restaurant almost from the day they opened.
John Dory’s - Waterstone Village - Somerset West - Tel: 021 851 9858
This is a good family restaurant. Good value for money and the menu is extensive, from all kinds of fish dishes to chicken and steak combos. The staff are great.
Pizza Pomodoro - Lions Square - Somerset West - Tel: 021 851 1805
This again is one of our favourites. Nigel and Norma Jean own and run this very popular restaurant in Somerset West. They offer mainly pizzas and pastas but also have a board with daily specials which offer a large variety of dishes from steaks to chicken. Again booking is essential especially over weekends.
The Avontuur Estate Restaurant - Avontuur Estate - Tel: 021 855 4296
You are in for a real treat with this one. The Taberer family own this beautiful stud farm where this wonderful restaurant is situated with superb views of the wineland and Table Mountain in the distance. The food is superb and the wines from the estate comliment the meals. The setting is magnificent, with beautiful horses in the paddocks around you and a view across the vineyards to Cape Town and Gordon’s Bay. Breakfast and lunch are served from Mondays to Sundays. They are also now open for evening dinners, check with them what days they open.
Mama Roma Restaurant - Stellenbosch Square - Tel: 021 880 2357
A wonderful restaurant! The setting is great and the décor inside makes dining a wonderful experience! Sit on the veranda on a summer evening and watch the breathtaking sunsets over the vineyards. The menu is extensive and so is the wine list. We have had good meals here, from steaks, fish and Italian pasta to pizzas!
Terroir Restaurant - Kleine Zalze - Stellenbosch - Tel 021 880 0717
This is definitely a restaurant to experience, at least once! The cuisine is innovative without being so unusual! It is on the pricy side but it is really worth the experience.
We can honestly say that it is amongst the best restaurants we have ever eaten at. The food really is so good and prepared by one of South Africa’s top chef’s. From Creamy prawn risottos to crisp pork belly and succulent lamb noisettes. The desserts are sensational!
The setting is very appealing whether you are seated outside under the oaks or in the restaurant, service is good and the wines from the De Zalze estate are well recommended.
